Tired? Stressed? Are you seeking a moment of peace and beauty in a busy day? We invite you to experience the healing power of nature by enjoying a new display of Sangetsu arrangements each week at our Center. Just drop in during our hours of Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and feel renewed!

Appreciation of nature’s beauty, the creative arts and music uplifts the human spirit, purifies and expands our consciousness, and adds a new dimension of joy to daily life.  One way we encourage this is through our Sangetsu School of Flower Arranging in which we teach how to make energy-filled flower arrangements that facilitate healing in people and environments.

As you arrange flowers, you find yourself refreshed and freed from worries, and your life becomes more harmonious and peaceful. At the same time you bring beauty and joy to those who see your arrangements. The appreciation of even a single flower on a desk can change the way someone approaches the day. The placement of a Sangetsu arrangement in a home, school or business affects the energy and levity of the space.

           The beauty of art,

        Its essence which refreshes,

        Renews the spirit

        Is indeed a priceless thing

        In this material world.

Viewing beautiful art is inspiring. It purifies both the heart and the mind.   Several walls of the Camarillo Johrei Center are graced by the fine work of local artists. Each year we also feature a specific artist’s work, complemented by Sangetsu flower arrangements.

“The mission of an artist is to help elevate man’s character through painting, literature, music, dancing, and drama…If the artist’s character is high and noble, the character of the public is elevated accordingly."

By coming in contact with something beautiful we can be inspired by the loveliness of the form, and this is important. But far more important than the physical beauty, is that which is within. When we can sense the spirituality of the creator of a lovely art form, we can receive far more inspiration from it. This contributes to our spiritual elevation and expanding consciousness in every way.

Every aspect of our lives can be elevated through attention to beauty—the condition of our homes, how we dress, how we express ourselves in relationship with others.  Even the colorful preparation of organically grown foods will result in a palate-pleasing and nutritionally balanced meal upon our plates.  Beautiful environments make for beautiful thoughts, reducing crime and other evils in society.  Ultimately, as each person develops a greater consciousness of beauty, the world as a whole benefits as well. Mokichi Okada indicated that the fine arts, literature and other forms of spiritual entertainment will flourish in the 21st Century.

If we long for beauty and wish to seek it, we should first try to find it within ourselves and then strive to make it grow and expand until it becomes an intrinsic part of us. This truly leads to an artistic life.

Artists lift themselves up above the reality of everyday life, and they also uplift those of us who are engrossed in their works. They do not create for the finite world; they grow beyond it.
